Stories where hunters (or a similar idea) exist. It's similar to the esper/guide universe, except without guides. Hunters are people with special, supernatural skills, but there's no threat of going berserk without a guide to maintain their mental health.

Romance stories (often BL) where one of the main couple has a horrible personality - usually narcissistic, domineering, and manipulative. The relationship starts off really unhealthy before eventually improving. It may still be unhealthy in the end, but it will at least be better than the beginning, and hopefully give hope for continued improvement after the story's end. If a lead bothers me too long without signs of improvement I will drop the story and remove it from any lists I added it to.
