It all started when Kang Jae-hyuk happened to watch the child prodigy, Lee Hajin, perform on TV. From that moment onwards, Jae-hyuk couldn’t get the beautiful sound of that violin out of his mind. Later on, Jae-hyuk didn’t hesitate when his HJ Cultural Foundation group got the chance to sponsor the precocious Hajin. Hajin would later confess his love for Jae-hyuk but it turns out, that confession was also a farewell as he would leave the cultural foundation for good. Years have passed and Jae-hyuk has decided to drop by Hajin’s new violin performance. But…has his playing always sounded this pained? What happened to the once beautiful music that came out of Hajin?

Yeong-do, a poor woodcutter who lives alone while longing for a family. And the Imugi, a serpent spirit that can only become a dragon by killing its destined mate. Yeong-do hears a rumor that if you throw your axe into a mountain pond, the mountain spirit will return it as a golden axe. Hoping to hold a wedding, he throws his axe into the water. But what rises from the pond is not a mountain spirit—it's an Imugi, furious after humans kept tossing their axes into its home. The Imugi, ready to kill the human standing before it, instead becomes captivated by the scent coming from Yeong-do… and gradually grows obsessed with him.
